What is the proper term, board of directors or board of trustees?

These terms mean the same thing and are often used interchangeably. At BoardOnTrack, we prefer board of trustees and use that for consistency throughout our materials. Our advice is to use whichever term is used in your state’s charter school law. Some laws use board of directors, other refer the governing entity as a board of trustees.
